naia

Earlier this month my parents arrived in the country. i was going to pick them up (yes me alone) and drop them to san pedro, laguna where they would be staying. i'm from mayon qc by the way. so i took the train lrt then the MIA bus in edsa which goes inside naia airports domestic&international. when i arrived at naia 1 arrival area, i went to passenger control and took a guest pass to allow me to enter the airport. you have to stick the pass on your shirt.

this is what the pass looks like...

it costs php.50 per pass. they didn't ask me for anything else just 1 i.d in exchange for the pass.
then i entered the airport arrival entrance and went straight to baggage claim area which is just after immigration. they are not strict with guests i just waited for my parents to come out of immigration then we went to baggage claim.

their baggage claim area is still so crowded, small and it wasn't cold inside. i was expecting it to be already renovated like they said on television. i didn't see a lot of renovation actually. it looked the same as it did when i arrived in the country back in 2003. maybe they did some at the restrooms, i didn't use any so i can't really comment he he
after claiming the baggage i took my i.d back from the passenger control area and we went out just outside the arrival entrance to the white naia service taxi they're surprisingly cheap, charge for laguna was just php. 750 excluded toll gate. our toll gates were just around 300+ via sky-way back&forth you pay two way for the cab's toll since he will be going back to the airport alone. they're not allowed to pick up passengers on the way back.

here's what the taxi looks like..

i think it's a whole lot cheaper to get these cabs rather than rent a van which would cost around php.2500 minimum from private services outside. you can also pick what size of cab you want depending on your lugage. they're kind drivers also, i asked the driver if they were the same as the yellow airport taxi in naia domestic airport, he said the yellow ones are from a different owner & more expensive. they wont give you a driver who doesn't know the way to your home, the driver they gave us was from laguna too that's why he was picked for us. the white taxi is just for naia 1 service. you can find them just after the arrival exit across the street on the left, no need to go down to the arrival pickup. they're beside the hotel services. they'll give you a receipt/bill once you pay before riding so the driver is on a fixed rate. just give him a tip if you want. we gave him a hundred bucks extra.

so there you have it. hope you like my exposure to a cheaper way of picking up relatives from abroad hehe i do this every time my parent visit.

thanks for reading!

  4. Hi! Is this NAIA Terminal1? Did they ask for the name of the passenger? My friend is arriving alone and it's her first time in the country, so I need to meet her inside the airport instead of the waiting area which is far from the exit gate.

  6. Hi Tiffany, did you have to notify anyone at their office beforehand that you need a pass, or do they accept "walk ins"?

  7. Hi, i'm sorry for the late reply. at that time i didn't inform anyone i just arrived and surrendered my id for the passes. i am just not sure if the rules have changed at this time. you may contact naia for more information and if they still allow this service. hope they still allow this process as it's very helpful no need to que at arrival area.
