City lights hotel baguio city

This hotel is near the cathedral on session road. Just a little bit of walking on the left side of the cathedrial. 

We gave this one a try since we already tried Bloomfield near sm baguio before and it was pretty nice so I wanted to give other hotels a try.

I would say this hotel is pretty average compared to bloomfield. It's one of those places where you just need to sleep and shower in. 

They don't have air conditioning but will provide a fan upon request since the rooms aren't that ventilated. 

They don't provide or at least the room we were in didn't have a toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, room slippers, hair drier, water kettle (they had coffee but no hot water?), no refrigerator, no dining table also. I had to request for the room slippers cause the carpet was not that clean it made my white socks black on the unsersole. They also have just one small closet which is good for one person only, specially if you're going shopping there isn't enough room for storage. You'll end up leaving all the stuff in one corner of the room. 

the room we got was for two and had two beds i expected more ofcourse. Not being a diva here but hey their rates were more than Bloomfield.

Bloomfield on the other hand had all of those mentioned above, two closets also and the room rates were even cheaper. Few hundred bucks difference.

They both provided breakfast for two only difference is with city lights is was a buffet and in Bloomfield you had to choose a meal from the breakfast menu, just one meal and a drink. 

Both also had hot showers but the one in city lights is not that hot it had a setting to semi hot and sometimes it runs out so you have to wait for it to get hot again compared to the one in Bloomfield which was consistent and it really had hot temperature.

I'm not saying it's a bad hotel but I just couldn't help but compare the prices and the value of what was included in them. 

FYI the hotel will charge you if they find any stains on their towels or sheets. So I'd say it's not that child friendly if you have messy kids cause they may wipe food on the towels or bed sheets and you will get chaged for it. I had to wash my towel cause it got stained from my newly colored hair, only a bit but still I didn't want to get charged for that hehe luckily it wiped off with soap and water.

It's pretty neat. They only provide layered blankets and not comforters or duvets since the room isn't air condition or should I say it isn't cold at all. The windows also didn't have a screen so you could easily jump out of it, if you're crazy lol

This was the hallway. We ended up putting the stuff we bought on that corner since the closet was so small.

Tv section. This is the only table in the room and had only one chair hmm how do we eat then?! 

They also didn't provide any numbers near the phone, how do you call the lobby if you have any requests? Go down personally.

This is the bathroom. Impressive cause of the glass doors huh... It was ok. 

But heads up! no exhaust fan so you are in a sauna if you use the hot water lol 

And if you go #2 it's bound to have no other exit but the room. 

My experience was ok nothing different really, infact it had a lot less than what I expected. 

So there you go, my second hotel stay in baguio city. I will be trying more in my next visit soon.

Where to stay in Baguio: Bloomfield hotel

I've been to Baguio twice already but i barely remember what it looks like since that was a long time ago.
I decided the take the evening trip so that i would arrive in the morning. I went to cubao since that was the only terminal i knew (the victory liner bus station in EDSA) purchased a ticket and got on the bus. The ticket has a seat number and it was being followed.
I think it took them less than 6 hours travel time including 3 bus stops to arrive in Baguio. I took the 2am trip and arrived at 7am. The bus fare was around 450 pesos only.
So, much to my surprise upon arriving the coldness started to kick in, it was so cold that morning i had to wear my scarf. I was already wearing my boots expecting it was cold at the bus and it was. After i got down from the bus i asked around for directions going to SM Baguio and if i needed to ride a cab going there. I was just instructed to walk on a particular direction (it was more like walk straight ahead then to the right lol) from the terminal and it would lead me so the mall and so i followed the directions and got to the mall in less than 5 minutes. I was surprised how safe my walking experience was, maybe it was too early in the morning also. I didn't see any beggars or beggars on the street.
When i arrived at the mall it was still closed cause its was too early and so i had to eat at the fast food restaurant outside the mall (kfc, what a breakfast huh) while i waited for my friend to help me find a place to stay. After breakfast my friend and i walked towards a hotel called Bloomfield, it's just across SM beside hotel 45.
There's a lot of choices when it comes to hotels here and i was surprised to see how accessible they all were to the city.
Upon arrival and inquiring about the rooms, we had to check them out, yes room check time also to see what it looks like, if its clean and what came with the soon to be paid amount.  It was all good.
The room had 2 beds, 2 closets, a dining area, flat screen TV with cable, air-conditioned(i have no idea why as if it wasn't cold enough already), shower with heater, blow drier for the hair and included free breakfast. And With defective wifi lol it wasn't working the whole time we stayed.

The rooms are pretty neat.  You can also opt for a non air conditioned one since it's already pretty cold in Baguio. I think they call it the Eco-Rooms. Those have different rates cheaper of-course.  Depending on the room type.

The bathroom came with the usual toiletries: shampoo, soap, lotion, tissue, towels, tooth brush and toothpaste. The hot shower was all i wanted hehe

The dining are was kinda out of space and it was a dark spot to eat in. The table area didn't have it's own lighting.
The room had 2 lights each for the closet area and one light on the entrance door, so in short the room was a bit on a dim light. It also had 1 bedside lamp.

They provided this small brochure (which you may not take home, they will charge you) it has a map inside and information on what sights to see around Baguio, the festivals are also included. They also have the room rates in there depending on the season (off and on peak). And what services and food they provided.

We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. It wasn't a bad stay or experience in the hotel. hotel service was good, staff was kind. The free breakfast that came with the room was also good. So overall it was a good stay. The room was around 2k+ pesos per night, kinda expensive but it was ok.

If you are however looking for a much cheaper place to stay, there are a lot of options in the area- transient houses, rooms, bed spacers that are also near SM and session road. The rate range is from 350-800 pesos per night, this depends again on the type of place you are getting. You may also rent houses for a weekend, if going by groups. I think those are rented around 11-15k pesos depends on how big the house is.
Just always ask if they have hot showers or heaters in the bathroom and check if it is working because the tap water in Baguio is ridiculously freezing cold as ice. I will not survive without a heater for sure, Unless you want to experience the ice bucket challenge everyday.

If you are on a healthy and wealthy budget on the other hand then i don't think you'll have any second thought in choosing the manor in camp john hay. It's the best hotel I've ever stayed in, in Baguio. I got to stay there for a weekend during a friends birthday a few years back and it was perfect! gorgeous! beautiful! luxurious!.......... And expensive lol but all worth it i loved everything about the place. I could live there lol I was so obsessed with how the whole hotel looked, it's so beautiful.

Anyway, there you go. My fist and hopefully not last feed back on hotels. Hope i was of help for those looking for a place to stay in Baguio.
